Minnesota Century Pioneer Certificate
Kroshus Family Members qualify for Minnesota Century Certificates
During
the Minnesota Sesquicentennial in 2008, the Norwegian
Statehood Pioneer Project offers a Century Certificate
for direct descendants of Norwegians who settled in
Minnesota before January 1, 1908. The cost is $10.
Multiple generations of the Kroshus family qualify for a certificate. Documentation is required to prove residence and line of descent.
Proof of residence: John Anderson Kroshus
Proof of descent:
1860 Census (Oline, Halvor, Mary, Anne)
1870 Census (Halvor, Mary, Anne, Pauline, Albert)
Proof of residence for Kroshus siblings:
Census records found in each sibling's section: Olina Halvor Anna Pauline Albert
Biographies, land patents, and other documents can also be used to establish earliest residence. Check each sibling's section for census records and other documents that can be used to verify residence prior to 1908 and/or descent for many Kroshus descendants. Clicking on headstone thumbnails in Bethania Cemetery. will always bring up a full-sized photo of the headstone, often the individual's obituary is also available and can be used to document descendants.
NSPP also offers a plaque for those whose ancestors were in Minnesota when it became a state in 1858. John and his family moved to Iowa before Minnesota achieved statehood.
